The Rithmatist

The Rithmatist The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson

Genre: fantasy, Steampunk

Age: YA

POV: 3rd person

Summary: In a world where your survival hangs on the skill of your drawings and where they come to life. Sound like my type of world. Rithmatist students have been disappearing. It up to Joel, Melody and Professor Fitch to solve.

Review: Since now I never read anything by Brandon Sanderson. This is a well crafted world and unlike other steam puck books, it doesn’t get carry away with the world building.
I expect the story to be about fighting rithmatic duels. Instead turn out to be a mystery. The writing is good, and I like the pictures and diagrams in the book.

Main Characters:

Joel: studies Rithmatist theories and battles yet, he not a Rithmatist himself.

Melody: is a Rithmatist and not good at it. Her strengths lie in chulklings drawings. She like to seek attention and is strong will.

Professor Fitch: is nerves in a Rithmatic duel but, knows the best strategies to win.

This was not the standalone I was hoping for. The way story ends seem like their will be more. I would be content with this one book. It could of have more duel scene. I would more about the world. I know Brandon Sanderson is notorious for his complex magic systems.
