The Death of Stalin: movie review

The Death of Stalin PosterGenre: Drama, comedy, history

Rated: R - Languages

Year of Release: 2018

Director: Armando Iannucci

Summary: Moscow, 1953. After being in power for nearly thirty years, Soviet dictator Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin (Adrian McLoughlin) takes ill and quickly dies. Now the members of the Council of Ministers scramble for power.

Review: From the first few minutes of the film start I was already laughing. The acting is great and how each of the council members bounce off each other with their line of dialogue. Under all the plotting, scheming, and backstabbing going on, a bit of fun at the people who committed the worst crimes of humanity.

The detail place into everything is well throughout and research. Well there a dark comic tone the life in the Soviet Union is not play down.

You don't need to know much about the Soviet Union while watching this, but it does help to know some historical contexts.
