Snow like Ashes

Author: Sara Raasch

Genre: high-fantasy, romance

Age: Teen

POV: 1st person

Summary: Sixteen years ago, the Kingdom of Winter was conquered, and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since. Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. She will do anything to get her kingdom back

Review: I DNF this book at chapter ten. Snow like Ashes starts out with some action. Then once they get to Cordell the story slows to a sail past.

The world building is basic. I wish there could have been more of the kingdoms base on the four seasons. I am sure they will come later in the series.

There an interesting story in this book somewhere. I will give it another chance with the audiobook.
